Thoughts and reflections from Pastor Lin.

I'm excited to announce that the Mosaic Cafe will begin a new season of coffee house atmosphere with incredible music on Friday, September 7th! We're going to do things a little differently this time around and go a little bit more country / rock style entertainment. We have some exciting, professional talent lined up so mark your calendars NOW! More exciting details coming soon! Upcoming Cafe event dates are Sept. 7, Oct. 12th and Nov. 9th.

Blessed Hope Community Church is incredibly BLESSED to have so many babies lately! In just a little over a year, five different families of BHCC have given birth to FIVE babies AND . . . we're expecting two more, both by year's end!  I LOVE it!!! We've had 3 girls and 2 boys and are expecting two more baby boys! It really is exciting to have so much new life bursting forth! Seven new babies! That's one great way to grow the church God! Thank you so much and keep them coming!!! One great thing about the theater is that the parents can bring them right in their strollers! "Children are a gift from the Lord; they are a reward from him." Psalm 127:3 “Let the children come to me; do not hinder them, for to such belongs the kingdom of God. Truly, I say to you, whoever does not receive the kingdom of God like a child shall not enter it.” And he took them in his arms and blessed them, laying his hands on them. We LOVE babies and children at BHCC!!!!!

“Yet to all who did receive him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God— children born not of natural descent, nor of human decision or a husband’s will, but born of God.” John 1:12-13 NIV I love this message series that we're currently doing at BHCC called "Connect the Dots."  I pray that the BHCC peeps are getting at least half as much as I'm getting out of it!   I've been hearing a lot of positive feedback on it so certainly the LORD is working, working, working! Preparing a message is often one of the hardest and most wonderful things I do each week.  Few people realize that it takes between 15-20 hours each week to prepare a 25 minute sermon. There is so much prayer, and research, and writing and polishing and practicing that goes into it. It takes a great deal of concerted focus and some weeks, it is definitely harder than others. ...

“I will praise you with an upright heart as I learn your righteous laws.” Psalm 119:7 NIV BHCC had a huge loss on June 29th, 2012.  Bill Lamb, our dear friend and brother in Christ went home to be with the Lord. Bill has been on the Lead Team in our church for the last seven years. He has served God and the family of BHCC in more ways than I can count. He taught Sunday School every other week for all of those seven years. He orgainized dinners, fund-raisers and cooked breakfasts & meals for more people than I can count. He participated in around 84 Lead Team meetings and many leadership retreats in that seven year time and contributed greatly to the direction and growth of BHCC. I remember when I first met Bill, I wasn't sure what to think of him. :-)  Bill was...

At Last Sunday's worship, we dedicated my granddaughter, Jordyn Brynne Wurzbacher to the LORD! It was incredibly special and very heart-felt to me and to our whole church.  My Son (Pastor John), wrote a BEAUTIFUL song to her that everyone LOVED! Check it out here:"These Little Hands" By John R. Wurzbacher For me personally, it was a total WOW moment. I think back to the days when my son was the one who had the little hands and I was the one praying and wondering what his hands would some day grow to do for the LORD in the future. And for his father and I to now see how his hands are used to daily serve the LORD, I couldn't be more grateful or satisfied!!! It is all because of God! I think back to some very huge defining moments in my own life. Like the time our marriage (and lives) were falling apart when our son was four years old. We talked about divorce. At the time, it seemed like the only answer. I remember feeling...

BHCC E-news sent out on 4/27/2012 James 1:27 "Pure and genuine religion in the sight of God the Father means caring for orphans and widows in their distress and refusing to let the world corrupt you."

Hi Friends,

The above scripture says it all! Our God is a God of love and to love Him means to let His love flow through us to others, especially defenseless people like orphans and widows!

I look at my five month old healthy granddaughter and I thank God for her! I thank God she has parents and grandparents to love and care for her. She's so completely dependent on others to keep her safe. It just makes you see the sanctity and preciousness of life when you look at a little baby!

But then I think about the over 34 million orphaned children in Africa and my eyes well up with tears! 34 million children, who through no fault of their own have absoltuely no one to care for them! On top of that, one third of these children are orphaned by AIDS.

Read this quote on facebook today: "Church attendance is infected with a malaise of conditional loyalty which has produced an army of… hitchhikers. The hitchhiker's thumb says, "You buy the car, pay for repairs and upkeep and insurance, fill the car with gas – and I'll ride with you. But if you have an accident, you are on your own! And I'll probably s...ue. So it is with the credo of so many of today's church attenders: "You go to... the meetings and serve on the boards, committees, leadership, you grapple with the issues and do the work of the church and pay the bills – and I'll come along for the ride. But if things do not suit me, I'll complain and bail out--my thumb is always out for a better ride." Kent Hughes Disciplines of a Godly Man, p. 165 I totally agree that this is a good illustration of many people we see in the church today! The American 'consumerism' mindset is constantly bomb-barding the Church. I heard one pastor describe church as 'parade' but I think the hitchhiker analogy is...

Well, What a wonderful day it was yesterday to celebrate my birthday!  Actually, it began Wed. night with my church family at our midweek service with this beautiful cake: And then yesterday, I was blessed to spend the day with my beautiful granddaughter, Jordyn!  She was so full of smiles & giggles and was a perfect angel all day.  Almost seemed like she knew it was my birthday and wanted to make it special for me. She did! I feel so incredibly BLESSED! The last few months have been a bit rough in other ways, especially work-load, so I'm so grateful to take a few days and just rest and count my blessings!  We had a wonderful, incredible Easter service last Sunday and were blessed to have over 20 first time guests! So it's been a great week and well worth all the hard work we've put in preparing for this busy church time of year. This morning I got a nice surprise in a...

(Article at Webster Post)

I am so very excited about all God continues to do in and through Blessed Hope CC!  There continues to be huge spiritual momentum at our church and I am just in awe to see the Hand of God working in so many areas! Below are just a few of the things happening recently: Our new midweek worship services continue to be well attended and loved!  I can see God using these midweek services to bring our people even closer together!  PTL! We had prayer group last night and had 18 people show up!  That's AMAZING because getting people to show up to pray is often the hardest thing to do in the church. Lisa is cancer free!  Huge answer to our prayers! Bill Lamb has gotten a miracle! We are sending out 15,000 direct mailers to people who live in a three mile radius of the the theater next week to invite people to our annual Easter Open House! BHCC's giving is higher than it's ever been! Praying for it to continue so we can do so much more in the Kingdom of God! Go God! We continue to get many new people joining our church! Excited to recently have a New York State Trooper and a doctor become part of our church. ...
